Attendance

Student Entrance and Exit Door

Students who arrive late or leave early must sign in or out with their school ID at the Main Door.

  • Students may use their ID from last year until their new ID is printed.
  • They can also use their digital ID using Infinite Campus. Students should download the Infinite Campus App to access their Digital ID. Click here for directions.

*Students are not allowed to use any other door to enter or leave the building. Students who do so, or allow other students into side doors, will be assigned a consequence up to and including suspension.

Attendance Protocols

Beginning of the School Day

School begins at 7:30 a.m. All students should be in their 1st hour class and ready to learn. Students who enter after 7:30 a.m must sign in at Door #1 with their School ID.

Start of Each Class Period

Students have 4 minutes of passing time between class periods and 8 minutes on block days. No hall passes will be issued the first 10 minutes of class. Any student in the hall during this time will not be allowed to use the vending machines and the School Store will not be open. Students are encouraged to plan ahead to ensure they get to class on time.

PIRATE Time

All students will be assigned for Homeroom and Choice Days. Students who do not sign up for a Choice Day Option will be automatically assigned to a room that is not their homeroom.

Attendance will be taken on both Homeroom and Choice Days and reported home using Infinite Campus!

Closed Campus

Bay Port is a closed campus, which means students are not allowed to leave for PIRATE Time, lunch, or study halls during the day. Students should only leave the building (and sign out at the front desk) for the following reasons:

  • Developing Young Leaders scheduled volunteer placement
  • Off Campus Classes: UWGB, NWTC, St. Norbert, or Bellin
  • Youth Apprenticeship scheduled work
  • Parent/guardian excuse on file to attend an appointment

Students who leave without an excused reason will not be allowed to exit or will be marked Left Without Permission.

End of the School Day

The school day ends at 2:40 p.m. All students should remain in their classroom until the bell rings. Any student leaving prior to 2:40 p.m. must sign out at the Main Door.

*Only 12th grade students are granted Late Start/Early Release due to study halls at the beginning or end of their school day. These students must still sign in or out.

Attendance Codes and Consequences

Parents/guardians should call the Attendance Line at 920-662-7248 to excuse their child before an absence. Another option is to use the Self-Report option in Infinite Campus.

  • Students who do not have a pre-excused reason on file for an absence will automatically be assigned a detention to be served the following school day from 2:45-3:30 p.m.
  • To avoid complications, parents/guardians should call or arrange the absence as soon as possible.
  • See the chart below for specifics regarding attendance codes and consequences.
Code Description Consequence
Absent
(Ab)
Student absent for entire class period. If a parent/guardian does not call in, absence changes to truant. Students with an excused absence have 2 school days for each absence to make up missed work. Students who miss more than 18 school days, even if excused, are considered chronically absent. Staff are only expected to accept late work when a student physically attends class.
Tardy - Unexcused
(TUN)
Student is late to class but arrives within the first 10 minutes.

20 minute after-school detention (after an initial 5 tardy grace period.)

Tardy - Excessive
(T10)
Student arrives more than 10 minutes late to class. 40 minute after-school detention
Left Without Permission
(LWP)
Student leaves class without permission at any time. 40 minute after-school detention
Truant
(TRU)
Absent codes will automatically change to TRU if a parent/guardian does not excuse an absence. 40 minute after-school detention for each missed class period
Left Building
Without Permission
All students will sign out if leaving the building prior to 2:40 p.m. This includes the lunch period.  Students who do not have an excused reason on file for leaving early will be assigned a 40 minute after-school detention.

*20+ class periods with any combination of  TUN, T10, LWP, L10 or TRU =  EVENT RESTRICTION rest of the quarter

Detention Protocol

Students with attendance or behavior violations are assigned detention to be served after school in the PAC for either 20 or 40 minutes. Students will sign in using Infinite Campus, place their phone in the phone chart, and work silently and independently for the duration of their assigned time.

Event Restriction Status

Students placed on the Event Restriction List are not permitted to attend off-campus field trips or school dances for the remainder of the current quarter.

Students will be placed on the Event Restriction List when they:

  • Receive more than 3 days of out-of-school suspension, and/or
  • Accumulate 20 or more class periods of attendance violations from the chart above during the quarter.
